PRODUCT STORY
Honouring Heritage: The 2025 North Melbourne Indigenous Guernsey. The 2025 North Melbourne Indigenous Guernsey is a powerful tribute to connection, culture, and tradition, inspired by the stories of Wurundjeri Elder, Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin, and designed by artist Emma Bamblett, who has ties to the Wemba Wemba, Gunditjmara, Ngadjonji, and Taungurung mobs.
At its heart is the possum skin cloak, a sacred symbol of kinship, Country, and survival, traditionally used by Aboriginal people to record their connection to the land.
The front of the guernsey features the cloak's pelts, each carrying symbols of ochre, a grinding bowl, a gum leaf, a witchetty grub, and the guling orchid - representing Aunty Joy's deep connection to North Melbourne's past and present players.
The back of the guernsey mirrors the reverse side of the cloak, showcasing Arden Street Oval, Kangaroo tracks, Bunjil, and a gum lead - honouring the legacy of Indigenous players, ceremony, and storytelling.
More than a guernsey, this PUMA x North Melbourne Indigenous design is a celebration of history, resilience, and the strength of Aboriginal culture.
